Roles and Responsibilities

  • Daily management of correspondence with the Brisbane office
  • Daily management of workflow
  • On-time completion of all bookkeeping tasks as provided by the bookkeeping team
  • Understanding and knowledge in Australian GST and tax laws
  • Preparation of BAS and IAS
  • Reconciliation of ATO Integrated Client Account
  • Advanced understanding of Reports
  • Profit & Loss
  • Balance Sheet
  • Payroll reporting
  • Activity statement
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable input and reconciliations
  • Understanding of Chart of Accounts
  • Coding of entries
  • Applying correct GST coding
  • Attaching documents to transactions
  • Bank and Credit Card reconciliations
  • Preparation and input of General Journals
  • Advanced Payroll knowledge
  • Australian Taxation
  • PAYG Withholdings
  • PAYG Instalments
  • Advanced understanding of Superannuation Obligations
  • Understanding and preparation of Automatic superannuation in Xero
  • Single Touch Payroll (STP) EOY finalizations and reconciliations
  • Understanding of Australian Workcover set up and lodgements
  • Advance knowledge of new Asset purchases for Machinery, Motor Vehicles, and Equipment
  • Entering of journal
  • Understanding of loan documents
  • Knowledge of Asset Register in Xero
  • Setting up of Assets
  • Depreciation
  • Borrowing costs

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an accounting practice

Minimum Qualifications

  • Cert IV in Bookkeeping/Financial Services (Australia)
  • Current Xero Certification including payroll

A Successful Candidate must have

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • An attitude of being organised and able to meet deadlines
  • Strong focus on learning and willingness to take on feedback for continuous improvement
  • Advanced working knowledge of Xero and MYOB software
  • Knowledge of Xero Practice Manager and FYI Docs
